Tyler P. Cruz
Law ClerkTyler “Ty” P. Cruz has worked for Deprez Tax Law, APLC, since 2018 and is currently a Law Clerk for the tax law firm. Ty plays a key role in assisting individuals and businesses successfully navigate tax controversy issues with the Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”), California Franchise Tax Board (“FTB”), and various other tax authorities.
Ty is a J.D. candidate at Chapman University Fowler School of Law, where he expects to earn his degree in May 2025. Ty’s studies are tax law centric, and he is focused on obtaining the Frank J. Doti Tax Law Certificate offered by the school. At Fowler School of Law, Ty received the Highest-Grade Award in Advanced Federal Income Tax (Spring 2024), served as President of the Tax Law Society (2023–24), and was selected as a Tax Law Honors Scholarship recipient (2023–24) for high academic achievement in tax law courses. Ty was a Staff Editor (2023–24) and currently serves as an Executive Article Submissions Editor (2024–25) for Chapman Law Review.
A Long Beach native, Ty is involved with a diverse range of Long Beach-based organizations. He mentors undergraduate students for the First Amendment Scholars Organization at California State University, Long Beach. He is the Student Liaison for the Long Beach Barristers section of the Long Beach Bar Association. He also frequents local Long Beach social hobby clubs for tabletop games and distance running.
