Tyler “Ty” P. Cruz is a Law Clerk for Deprez Tax Law, APLC (“Deprez Tax Law”).  Ty began working for Deprez Tax Law in December 2018 and has since developed a passion and skillset required for assisting both individuals and businesses in addressing tax controversy issues with the Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”), California Franchise Tax Board (“FTB”), and other relevant tax authorities.  In addition to the fulfillment that comes from helping taxpayers successfully navigate their tax controversies, Ty enjoys the complexities and intricacies that arise in various tax law contexts.  He is specifically enthusiastic about taxation of business organizations, real estate tax implications, and gift and estate tax consequences.

Currently enrolled as a law student at Chapman University Fowler School of Law, Ty expects to earn his J.D. in 2025.  At Fowler School of Law, Ty is focusing his studies to obtain the tax law emphasis certificate.  Additionally, he is a Staff Editor for Chapman Law Review and serves as President of the Tax Law Society.

Ty is proudly born and raised in Long Beach, CA, and active in his local community.  He is a member of the California State University, Long Beach, First Amendment Scholars Organization, where he mentors undergraduate students enrolled in First Amendment courses.  Ty is also the Student Liaison for the Long Beach Bar Association’s Barristers group.  Outside of work and school, Ty enjoys frequenting the local coffee shops and participating in diverse Long Beach-based social groups ranging from Magic: The Gathering clubs to distance running clubs.
